10 Emerging Technologies of 2020 from MIT Technology Review

 

Madrid, March 23, 2020 - The first wave of a new class of anti-aging drugs has begun to be tested on humans. For now, they will not make us live longer; their aim is to treat specific diseases by delaying or reversing the basic process of ageing. They are called senile drugs and they work by eliminating certain cells that build up in the body as we age. Likewise, Alkahest has found multiple components in the blood of young people that could slow down cognitive and functional deterioration in patients with Alzheimer's disease. These are some of the conclusions published by the MIT Technology Review, published in Spanish by the global innovation firm Opinno.

In addition to anti-aging drugs, the technology that most promises to change the lives of its users is hyper-personalised medicine. Genetic medicine has been creating a lot of noise by giving hope to people with incurable diseases, developing ad hoc drugs.

The 10 emerging technologies in 2020, according to the MIT Technology Review, will be, in addition to the two previous ones, the Quantum Internet, impossible to hack, hyper-personalised medicine, digital currency, anti-aging, AI capable of discovering compounds for new drugs, satellite megaconstellations, quantum supremacy, tiny AI, capable of running applications on a smartphone, differential privacy; and the responsibility of climate change, will be 10 technological advances that will make a real difference in solving important problems, chosen for their ability to change the way we live and work. Pedro Moneo, publisher of the MIT Tech Review in Spanish and CEO and founder of Opinno, says that "new technologies are a great boost that allows us to transform the way we work to continue innovating.

From the caves, man has had the need to develop tools to improve his way of working and his quality of life. Throughout history, the sum of innovation and technology has been used to solve problems and needs of all kinds.

Quantum Internet

Among the 10 technologies, one of the sciences that is standing out is the quantum internet network. The Delft network, in which teams of scientists from the Delft University of Technology and The Hague are working, will use the interlacing of atomic particles to develop a new quantum Internet, hacker-proof, capable of protecting the privacy of business and consumer data.

Digital currencies can change the way we think about financial privacy. As the use of cash decreases, so does the freedom to conduct transactions without intermediaries. Meanwhile, digital currency technology could be used to fragment the global financial system, currently dominated by the U.S. Facebook's Libra project and China's issuance of a digital version of its currency will create a new global economic landscape.
