The Insur_space accelerator program opens for applications on January 20, 2019.

If you’re running an insurtech start-up and want to develop your innovative idea, apply for MAPFRE's Insur_space acceleration programme.

MAPFRE's Insur_space is a four-month acceleration scheme that facilitates the development of your business idea. The programme includes extensive training, mentoring, and networking sessions with MAPFRE experts. You will also have the opportunity to meet internationally renowned tutors like Alberto Levy, mentor of the Founder Institute and the Start-up Lab of the IE University, and Tanguy Jacopin, director of Global Born.

After the initial screening, the shortlisted candidates will start the program on March 11. A network of experts will evaluate the development of the projects. At the end of the acceleration programme, the twenty best startups will present their prototypes at Demo Day, after which the jury will select the winning team.

"We are facing a transformation in the business, the product, and the distribution channels. We created the acceleration program to foster open innovation between start-ups, companies, entrepreneurs and MAPFRE", explains Josep Celaya, global director of MAPFRE Transformation and general director of insur_space.

MAPFRE is a Spanish multinational company present in 49 countries, with over 30 million clients and more than 36 0000 employees, always on the lookout for innovations in the insurance industry worldwide.

The acceleration program has three fundamental pillars:

  1. Knowledge sessions or technical sessions where entrepreneurs receive transversal training to create their prototype;
  2. insur_inspiration - presentations of relevant contents and tech trends that are impacting the industry, together with the interventions of MAPFRE experts;
  3. Planning & management to monitor the projects throughout the programme, following the agile development methodology.
