The first regional edition of EmTech 2013 (the most important emerging technologies conference in the world) landed in Mexico. For the second time, the Latin American country proved to be in full entrepreneurial growth. Opinno, Spanish editor of the magazine MIT Technology Review, made of current debates and technological landscape projects come to life thanks to the realization of this event.

EmTech Mexico 2013 has been the biggest ceremony held to date, with more than 800 attendees divided into eight thematic panels (smart cities, biomedicine, materials of the future, entrepreneurial ecosystem, advances in education, health and technology, among others). In addition there were two lectures offered by more than 30 speakers of 10 different nationalities, among them the Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry Mario Molina Montes, and Jason Pontin, director of MIT Technology Review.

Promoting the brand "Made in Mexico", the organization of EmTech represented an opportunity to show Mexico's most innovative and talented design and technology. Mexican exports of high technology account for 80% of total exports throughout Latin America.

EmTech Mexico 2013 was the year's first edition of Emtech and in Latin America. The numbers show that it has been a huge success: 800 attendees, 30 speakers from 10 different countries, 20 companies participating in the investment forum, 8 thematic panels, 20 venture capitalists, 70 accredited journalists, 2,600 followers on Twitter (@ MITEmTech) , more than 3,000 tweets with the hashtag #EmTechMéxico and over 500,000 mentions, and 5 live streaming portals.

The event was also a project presentation space. Twenty of the most relevant Mexican entrepreneurs could promote their work in front of the business technology community. In turn, EmTech Mexico hosted the second installment of Innovators Under 35 awards, where the ten winners were able to present their projects to people of great relevance.
