This month Opinno took part in one of the most important conferences on digital transformation in business in the world. The Digital Business World Conference or DES 2018 is an annual event bringing together CEOs, CIOs, CMOs and HR departments from companies across the spectrum of industry, the most cutting-edge technological companies and the most innovative in products and services.

A global platform is an essential event in the business calendar of any company seeking to shake off the vestiges of outmoded, expensive and obsolete business models for their innovative new digital counterparts and embrace the benefits of this transformation.

Opinno’s director of strategy, Daniel Medina gave a talk on how to scale corporate innovation in companies. A clear objective in his talk was to identify where companies should place the focus of their digital transformation at a time when business culture is awash with technological proposals all clamoring for attention. Clarity, as to which direction to take, is essential.

Daniel Medina

According to him, the following three pillars should be central to any decisions those in positions of responsibility take:

  • Companies must improve production processes through digitalization and mechanization of their current systems.

  • They should detect new markets via a system of advanced cross-selling of additional services or products to existing clients – products that compliment established ones. Plus they should identify segments of markets where individuals do not have all their needs covered.

  • Companies should develop a Go-To-Market strategy, which facilitates an accurate definition and real knowledge about a client in the early stages of developing new products.

Mesa Redonda Marta del Amo

At the conclusion of the talk, the Editor-in-Chief of the Spanish language version of the MIT Technology Review, Marta del Amo chaired a round-table discussion on the theme of innovation in which the following company stakeholders participated: from the Smart factory at SEAT, its Head of Innovation, Francisco Requena; Fernando Sandoval, Manager of Enel Innovation Hub Spain; and Josep Celaya, Corporate Director of Innovation at MAPFRE. Each of the participants reflected on the nature of innovation in their corporate sector and within their respective companies.
