Opinno

From Opinno, we have pinpointed some the most important conferences relative to our core ideas. Here we have:

Viva Mexico

Karla Mawcinitt (General Coordinator, Communication and Image, ProMéxico) pointed out the potential for innovation in Mexico by explaining, “It is a country that is ready to invest in innovation.” Its workforce is formed by 47 million people with a median age of 26. It has a strategic location for trade with the rest of Latin America as well as an intriguing new technology market. This year, Opinno organized EmTech México and distributed the awards for Innovators Under 35.

Educate and Enjoy

Regarding the roundtable concerning challenges in education, Israel Ruiz, from Edx and a member of MIT, spoke about how education is affected by time.  “We work 24 hours a day and we are contextualizing knowledge. There are 3 million people in the world that want to learn and we can reach them.” David Quartielles, from Arduino, continued by stating that there is a need to change the education system to one which the professor can also be a mentor to the students and technology classes can be converted into a place where projects and prototypes can be created. Scot Osterweil explained how all of his game designs are made for learning and how we have forgotten the fact that playing is the easiest way to teach. He gives the example of when games are not given instructions, children become scientists; exploring and discovering their abilities. He closed the lecture with a promising statement: “We are going to create a world that we can enjoy.”

Performance and Technology: Refining the Future

Art Session by Stephen Webber was the conclusion to the first day of EmTech. The show taught us that a dancer can make music with her movements by using the rings on her fingers and toes, or how the mix between cultures and different styles of music can leave you speechless. Webber has predicted a change in the performance world because there are many artists that are realizing that they have to be creative and are becoming the CEOs of their own brands to manage and make the most of their talent. “Right now people listen with their eyes and that is why artists are beginning to make video diaries; video clips have a greater impact and are more appealing to the audience”, he concluded.

The section devoted to “From Lab to Market” in which Pedro Moneo mitigated Leon Sandler, William Mark and Javier Martínez García is a topic that will be expanded upon in another post since it is of particular value in the areas which Opinno develops.

Third Round of Spanish Innovators Under 35

On the second day of EmTech, the MIT Technology Review Awards for Innovators Under 35 were given out. Pedro Moneo and Damià Tormo both believe that each year the prize winners should be the bridge towards opening the market and promoting Spanish technology around the world. Hugo Najera, Director of Innovation at BBVA, believes that technology changes the way we behave. From its center of innovation, BBVA supports entrepreneurs construct new ecosystems which will later need to direct its business by a banking sector that has developed and will help with new financial products.

EmTech Valencia 2013 passed the test with outstanding results; a powerful agent for the Opinno team and its objective to transform business and organizations.
