Ten innovative projects and two special acknowledgements have been rewarded to a selection of the 240 candidates.

The prizes awarded to innovators under 35 years old has arrived in Brazil. The competition orientated to selecting and recognizing the work of ten young entrepreneurs landed in the Latin American country to award the best projects able to create a real impact using technology from a variety of fields.

With the backing of BBVA and FINEP, this new edition of the most widely recognized awards in the field of innovation presented to a new generation. A group of young people able to demonstrate their most creative work received the acknowledgment and exposure they deserve.

To be the winner of the award means to be talked about worldwide with prestige that enables you to present your work in an optimum environment.

In this Brazilian edition, the ten finalists boasted very different skills, all of them with something in common; their devotion to different social causes and their entrepreneurial spirit.

Within the ten winners of over 240 candidates, two of them were awarded the title of ‘Innovator of the Year’ and ‘Social Innovator’.

Varied studies such as software able to improve the diagnosis of rare diseases, a low cost prosthesis called Revo Foot made out of recycled plastic, a training and basic education program based on mobile technology to improve student learning etc. succeeded in arousing the interest of the judges.

Only two of these managed to obtain a special distinction. The first of which was the project developed by Eduardo Bontempo, named ‘Brazil’s Innovator of the Year’. This young entrepreneur, with a degree in direction and business administration is the creator of education platform, Geekie Lab.

This tool helps to detect the learning needs of each student, creating a study-plan that adapts to the natural rhythm, strengths and weaknesses of the student. Over 2.4 million students and 17.000 schools in Brazil are already using Geekie Lab.

The distinction of ‘Social Innovator’ went to Guilherme Lichand, 28 years old, who was recognized for his work and efforts to improve the carrying out of social problems using mobile devices. Lichand, apart from being the cofounder of MGov Brazil, is in charge of providing grouped facts using voice calling and SMS’s concerning important social topics, for example, the government.

Changing to better the world we live in using technology is the main objective that this competition tries to reach. Winners of past editions continue to develop their revolutionary projects on an international level, transforming different social areas like Google, facebook or Paypal. Now these Brazilian entrepreneurs are some of them.
