On the 1st and 2nd of December, the ceremony of the first edition of the International Innovation Awards (ii Awards) took place. These awards are granted by the French organization Paris Region Lab, which has relied on Opinno to delegate not only the organization of the event but also the operation of its competitions platform and the design of its corporate identity.

Three different departments of Opinno have worked in unison to give birth to this project. The previous experience of the Labs department in other platforms for clients such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology  (USA) supports its ability to "apply the knowledge acquired from these clients on the competitions platform ", says the developer responsible, José Zerpa.

The features of this new page differentiates this platform from others by "allowing all stages of the competition to run within the website itself," explains Zerpa. For the expert, this brings "speed and visibility," two aspects considered "key".

Together with the intuitive operation, designers of the Media department are responsible for defining the look of the competition. Opinno’s director of design, Borja de Vega, explains: "We have managed to give the page a modern, attractive, simple look but in turn based on a clean, readable, typographic treatment". De Vega has based the design on the ranges of gray and blue to give an air of "seriousness".

The combination of intuitive and flexible functionality and refined and sober design results in a website in which the user can "focus on content without reducing usability," de Vega said. In this sense, the development has adapted the page "to any device with a browser and very short charging time."

The Competition

Opinno’s efforts seeks to promote the expansion of ii Awards. The aim of the awards is to recognize the innovative work of the various start-ups of the world whose work is contributing to the change of society. And this is precisely one of the pillars on which the philosophy of Opinno sits.

Its Competitions department was responsible for the selection of the companies among which the organization has chosen 20 finalists. All have had the opportunity to present their projects in Paris (France) for outstanding entrepreneurs, experts and investors. They have also been introduced to members of the Open Innovation Club, composed of the 60 largest companies in France.

Biosensitive

Smart clothing able to detect epileptic seizures developed by the company Bioserenity, French Pierre Frouin, was awarded the first prize in the competition, valued at 20,000 euros. Beside him five other finalists have joined the list of global winners. The six companies will participate in an acceleration program for three months in the French capital.

Among the winners was the Spanish entrepreneur, Guillermo Peris-Fajarnes and his company Eye2021 technologies. The objective of this company is to develop technologies and applications for people with visual disabilities to improve their perception of the environment around them.

Opinno supports the promotion of brilliant profiles and ideas capable of changing the world. Therefore it not only collaborates with initiatives like this, but contributes to society with its own support for these profiles through their competitions MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 that already takes place in ten regions around the world each year.
