This month the English edition of the MIT Technology Review has launched a special print version of the magazine during July and August all about neuroscience with exclusive reports and interviews.

Under the name “Hacking the soul”, the magazine dedicates itself to the analysis of the latest advances in neuroscience, a field in which experts continue to advance in the ways of understanding the mind and human behavior.

Our Media department at Opinno has translated these reports for the online version of the magazine in the Spanish language. Actually, on the 30th of June, you’ll be able to enjoy the very last article, closing a cycle of specialized interviews and reports on neuroscience.

Amongst them, there is an interview with scientist Antonio Damasio by Jason Pontin, chief writer of the English edition. In it, he talks about the relationship between the scientists that study feelings and emotions that are, for Damasio, vital for the understanding of the natural cognitive of all living things.

The professor of neuroscience at the Southern California University assures that it is necessary to be able to differentiate between what we call “feelings” and what we know as “emotions”, terms that semantically tend to get confused. You can read the full interview here.

On the other hand, our team of writers at the MIT Technology Review in Spanish have published some of their own articles, for example interviews with the top speakers from EmTech México 2014 and a report on biomedicine.

In it, they talk about the problems that occur within the field of medicine in relation to the use of animal or human guinea pigs for the investigation of new medicines and treatments, a complex framework of scientific and human interests that collides with human rights.

From Opinno, we have been in contact with the Virtual Physiological Human team that are creating virtual guinea pigs with the ability to imitate the mechanics, physics and biochemistry of a living organism. However, some colleagues seem skeptic. Do you want to know why?
