The fifth edition of the South Summit brings together speakers from leading companies like NASA, Amazon, and VISA and one hundred of the most innovative start-ups in South Europe.

Finalists of the past editions like Cabify, Typeform, Glovo, and Spotahome have now become benchmarks of the entrepreneurial ecosystem having raised more than $1.7 billion. The winning start-up of this edition will create a crowdfunding campaign and be given the opportunity to compete in the Start-up World Cup in Silicon Valley.

The Open Innovation Forum

This year's South Summit starts with The Open Innovation Forum that aims to offer a broad perspective on the present and future of Open Innovation when applied to the emergence and consolidation of corporate ecosystems and start-ups. The recent increase in the popularity of open ecosystems to encourage innovation in organizations is one of the most drastic changes in competition between companies. This reality implies profound changes in the way we face markets, develop new products and services and manage talent. How to face these challenges, today and tomorrow, is the key issue that the Open Innovation Forum plans to explore.

enlightED

enlightED is an initiative of Fundación Telefónica and IE University that gathers experts in technology and innovation to discuss education in the digital world. What will be the education of the future and what are the best examples of integration between education, technology, and innovation? How can we ensure the digital society of today is fair and accessible to everyone? The 2018 enlightED Award will go to the ten best international start-ups in the education sector.

The Investors DEN

The DEN is an exclusive event during the South Summit where investors meet, learn and share ideas with start-ups. International and local venture capitalist, business angels, and governmental organizations discuss practices and debate the main opportunities for investment. This year, over 650 investors attend the event.

Another novelty of this edition is the Hackathon supported by Ferrovial, Amadeus, and BBVA. In this competition, 100 programmers and UX/ UI designers are challenged to build a free software program to solve one of the important problems of today.
