When people think of companies, they often imagine remote multinational corporate entities where even the employees are unknown to each other, but the reality can be very different. In the European Union alone there are around 17 million family businesses; they account for some 60% of the total number of companies; what’s more, they provide 100 million jobs. (Source: FBN)

Due to both the abundance and significance of family businesses, the Family Business Network organizes international conferences in order to stimulate debate about their role in the global economy. Last year, the conference was held in Gran Canaria and focussed on the challenges faced by family businesses.

Among the speakers at last year’s conference was our CEO, Pedro Moneo, who spoke about new business models and how current technological development is facilitating the emergence of new markets whose products and services provide positive change and dynamism in business.

He also spoke about information and communication technologies and their fundamental role in increasing technological capital and productivity in companies.
