Launched in October 2013, OpenAxel is the first open platform that brings together all of the major accelerators in Europe. It is a project initiated by a consortium of eight companies (leading accelerators, institutions and consulting firms specializing in innovation) located in six different European countries with a large international impact.
This plan brings together three of the largest accelerators with major impact in Europe (WAYRA by Telefónica, AppCampus by Nokia and Microsoft , and ACCELERACE the leader in Scandinavia); each with a clear common objective: the creation of a collaboration platform for accelerators, offering SMEs a simple way to access and search for service portfolios, establish synergies to create new services and training programs, establish a benchmarking system and also collect and circulate the top acceleration practices.
The pilot project format poses to hold an annual acceleration contest. In the month of March, the scheduled date for the first event, thirty of Europe’s most innovative companies will be selected in three categories of maturity. They will be provided services to achieve global competitiveness with the help of mentors from large corporations. In addition, they will carry out trade missions to the U.S.
