The first edition of our event with Vocento Media Lab about user experience and new technologies sold out

Say goodbye to conventional monitors and supports. Consumers are becoming more and more avid followers of innovation and high-impact formats, and at Opinno we are committed to sharing these tendencies with the world. So when we organize an event like XDMad, the screen and platform depart from the traditional format to become an immersive, 360º event. The Dome at the Complutense University of Madrid was the stage for a demo of new tendencies, ideas and concepts from the world of design and user experience during the first edition of XDMad, which we organized in collaboration with Vocento Media Lab.

More than 100 people accompanied us at this event, exceeding the planned capacity during this first tour of XDMad. In addition to staff from Opinno and Vocento Media Lab, the event included a series of experts from the sector that shared their knowledge with the audience. The speakers were required to respect the PechaKucha presentation guidelines which establish a maximum number of slides (20) that should be presented in a maximum time of 20 seconds each.

Between speeches, a spacecraft travelled through time by passing through black holes projected onto the dome to illustrate the evolution of design. As a starting point, our design director, Borja de Vega, and our user experience lead, Antonio Angulo, laid the foundation for the respective topics and analyzed the challenges of their evolution. "Designing is not only creating a product, you have to look past that to the implementation of the product. The system is alive, everything we do has a better implementation", De Vega says.

That "live system" is born of the needs and tastes of the general public, a public that the innovation director at Vocento, Borja Bergareche, defined as "the user/reader/citizen that is at the center of everything", whose sensibilities "we should carry in our hearts".

Virtual reality, smart watches and immersive experiences also formed part of the innovative menu that XDMad served to its audience. These themes were addressed by experts from Carrefour, Prodigioso VolcánEspada y Santa CruzFjordIntelygenzThe App Date and 93 Metros.

The first edition of XDMad concluded with a networking session where the attendees and speakers shared their experiences and future challenges. "It was truly a unique experience where we learned from each other and tried to center each creative process around the end user, which is ultimately who we work for," according to our manager of Opinno Labs and event lead, Gonzalo Torres.

As part of the philosophy of innovation that we live and breathe at Opinno, this type of event gives us the opportunity to grow and help others grow. For this reason, we trust that this first edition of XDMad will be followed by many more, and that the knowledge and experience gained will live on forever in our hearts, as Bergareche said, and help us to understand the sensibilities of our users, readers and compatriots.
