The success of a company is based on the performance of its employees and work environment. If these aspects are not reinforced, the company’s results are affected. The foundation for every corporation is the people, and who is responsible for selecting those most qualified? The Human Resources staff.

The importance of recruiting and attracting talent is crucial for the company’s inner operation and achieving it is not easy. This was discussed in the XLIX State Conference for Students and Alumni of Labor Relations, Human Resources/Personnel Management "Our Professional Reality" held between February 16th and March 22nd in which Rebeca Bárcena, Director of Human Resources at Opinno participated. Rebeca

In her speech, mostly directed towards students studying Labor Relations about to finish their studies, thus who have no experience, she spoke mainly about recruitment methods, identifying talent and preparing to face the working world.

Asking at all times for participation from the attendees in a highly interactive presentation, the first part of the talk identified what talent is, "we refer to two kinds of talent, one more technical in which the person has a degree as well as a medium level English, and the other based more on competence such as organization, qualifications, orientation for detail, results..." Bárcena explained.

Finding the right person to fit the position is always complicated. Vocation is fundamental in attracting talent. "Do what you love to do, ask yourself the questions that you will ask the people you interview, know yourself in order to know if what you’re doing is your calling and believe in it" are the keys that she points out as necessary to make a successful selection of personnel.

Finding what we like, what we do well, what we consider to be our values and, of course, looking at what you’ll be paid are the most important concepts, according to Rebeca Bárcena, and only when all are present can they lead to the essential vocation for the recruitment of necessary talent in a corporation.

"Values are most important; they are what engage the worker with the company. If those values are not shared, sooner or later the worker-company relationship breaks," she adds.

The most important value that was highlighted in the conference given by the Director of Human Resources Opinno was "the need to find one’s own vocation in order to be able to detect the vocation of the person being interviewed.”

‘The only way to progress is if you think big, advancing is only possible when you look far ahead.’ With this motivating phrase, she closed a speech that did not leave anyone unmoved and above all, gave a clear message for future generations seeking to pursue human resources as their future career: "The head of human resources that does the interviews must engage, encourage and show the best part of their company. After all end, at that moment, you are the ambassador of your company."
