Description

A matrix that allows us to prioritize solutions according to certain parameters or key constraints in the project or strategy

What for?

Prioritise ideas or solutions through group reflection and consensus. The aim is to position those ideas that are most relevant to the project or that meet the established prioritization parameters to a greater extent. Some of these could be: impact, viability, degree of innovation, speed or urgency.

Step by step

  1. Transcript the ideas generated in the ideation to post-its
  2. Place them in the matrix according to the parameters and the degree of compliance in each one of them
  3. In case there is more than one idea in the star quadrant, make a quick vote by giving 3 votes in stickers to each participant

Extra: The star quadrant will be the one that meets the limiting criteria that delimit the ideas that do go to the next phase and are of high value for the project, business or user

Tips for use

  • Review the project objectives and success parameters established with the client at the beginning of the project
  • Design a work session with the client to define and detail the parameters or constraints that should make up the matrix
  • Once the parameters have been defined, it is necessary to establish the scales on which the prioritization will be worked (at least the minimum and maximum) This exercise will help you avoid setbacks due to lack of alignment or management of expectations, always keeping the focus on the needs of the client and user

IMPORTANT: The prioritization parameters that will make up the axes must be built as a team, thinking about the purpose and objective that the project must pursue and the type of solutions that are more aligned with the client's strategy
